My EDGE Project

Homecoming Float

Last semester, I had the opportunity to be the president of the Student Nurses Association (SNA) here on SUU's campus. Every October, SNA is one of the clubs that is invited to build a float for the Homecoming Parade. I decided to use this invitation as my Leadership EDGE project because I had many opportunities and responsibilities as the SNA president. Some of the things I did for this project were organizing and managing the association throughout the construction process, coordinating with our chapter adviser and our treasurer to set a budget for the project, conduct meetings with the SNA body to draw blue prints and solidify ideas for the float, as well as assign committees and subcommittees to divide the workload. I worked very closely with our treasurer to purchase all needed supplies, and adjust the budget for the project as needed. As the president, I was also responsible to oversee all construction done on the float, as well as act as the "final decision maker."  One of the cooler things I got to do was to go out into the community and ask for donations of items the organization couldn't buy (wood, PVC pipe, etc). It was really awesome to see how many people were willing to donate and support us!

Project Goal: The main goal of this project was to organize the SUU nursing students to construct a float for the homecoming parade that took place October 13th, 2018.
